Copyediting

Authors often have the impulse to skip the copyedit to save money. Here's the reality: Readers can tell when a book hasn't been professionally edited. It doesn't matter if you're really excellent at writing and grammar; we all make mistakes. When you've been working so closely with your book, drafting it for months or even years, you're bound to start missing things.

Don't trust just anyone with a copyedit--hire someone experienced in your genre who knows the industry.

One of our skilled editors will seek and destroy:

spelling errors

We'll correct any spelling errors with a little help from Mr. George Merriam, Mr. Charles Merriam, and Mr. Noah Webster (you know... the creators of Merriam-Webster's Dictionary)

word choice errors

It's our job to understand the subtle nuances of the English language so you don't have to! We'll find those funny word choices and make recommendations for improvement.

grammatical errors

Grammar is a challenge for everyone, so with our trusty Chicago Manual of Style in hand, we'll hunt down all of your grammar errors and make recommendations for resolution.

mechanical errors

These mostly include punctuation...!!!???
"Including quotation marks!" she added enthusistically.

awkward language

Sometimes it just doesn't sound right! Maybe you're using too many words, or not enough. Maybe the dialogue isn't exactly natural. We'll fix it!

clarity issues

These can be grammatical, like a dangling modifier, or stylistic, like how does your main character react to this shocking plot twist reveal?

All edits are done using Microsoft Word Track Changes.
We are not able to use alternative methods of tracking edits.

Pricing

Base pricing for a copyedit is $0.04 per word.
