Emerging Authors Program

Some authors, depending on their submission materials, may be good candidates for our Emerging Authors program. This is a program for previously unpublished or self-published authors who are interested in learning more about the publishing industry and developing their writing craft while publishing a book!

Our Emerging Authors Program provides personalized support and detailed guidance for new and upcoming authors. We will explain every step of our process and provide any guidance necessary to help you become comfortable in the world of publishing and put out a book the world can get excited about!

A good Emerging Authors Program candidate has the following:

a working understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, including Track Changes

Enrollment in the Emerging Authors Program requires a membership investment, which covers the following services:

Author Education

Author education is the most important and valuable part of the Emerging Authors Program. To help you develop your authorial skills, we will:
  • gift you a free e-book that details every step of the publishing process
  • explain any and all of the below steps to you as your book goes through them
  • host monthly Zoom happy hour seminars to talk about different publishing subjects​

Networking

Networking is an invaluable part of any business, and book publishing is no different. We will connect you with other Emerging Authors so you will have people to share your successes and trials with, people to bounce ideas off of. Our Emerging Authors will mutually support each other in their books' production and its release and marketing! We'll connect you via:
  • a Facebook group exclusively for Emerging Authors
  • monthly happy hours
  • ​​a list of author social media accounts for mutual follow

Developmental Editing

Developmental editing by an editor who is trained and experienced in the craft of storytelling in your genre. Developmental editing includes general recommendations for strengthening plot, character, and theme. Your developmental editor is happy to chat about development and find an answer that works for everyone.

Line Editing

Line editing by an editor skilled in semantics, syntax, and linguistics. Line editing includes revisions recommended for clarity, authenticity, and voice. Your line editor is happy to explain their reasoning behind their recommendations.

Copy Editing

Copy editing by a Chicago Manual of Style trained editor. Copy editing includes non-negotiable recommendations for grammar, spelling, and mechanics.

Illustrations (children's only)

Illustrations by a Wildling Press illustrator or another vetted illustrator, including illustration management. 

Interior Design

Interior design including formatting to printer’s requirements, placing and coordinating text sections and images (if any), margins, font style and size, small design graphics, etc.

Cover Design

Cover design including title treatment, publisher logo, barcode, ISBN, and development of back cover synopsis. We offer paperback, casebound hardcover, and classic hardcover with dust jacket styles, and we will make recommendations about which format(s) suit(s) your book.

Printing

Printing of your book, including author copies and review copies.

E-book Production

E-book production for Kindle e-readers.

Audiobook Production

Audiobook production for Audible.

Registrations

Registrations including ISBNs and Library of Congress Control Number.

Marketing

Marketing training, planning, support, and supplementing from our publicity team. Our PR team will:
  • help you develop a marketing plan unique to your book
  • explore different social media sites and help you choose the platform(s) that make(s) the most sense for your book
  • review and make recommendations for developing your social media presence and practice
  • provide sample emails for reaching out to media and reviewers
  • guide you in seeking features, reviews, and articles
  • guide you on how to seek out and plan book events
  • guide you in publicizing your media appearances and book events
  • market your book and events on Wilding Press social accounts
  • listen to your creative ideas and help you refine them and bring them to life
